PASTA & BEAN MIX
If you're not self-isolating you might need to go to the shop to get the ingredients for this simple tea-time treat. Luckily, I had all the required stuff in the cupboard already, and am not self-isolating anyway just now, so there was nae problem.
This is what you'll be needing:
Wholewheat pasta would have been better but there was none in the shops last time we looked, so this is not quite as nourishing a meal as it could have been. It's suitable for vegans but it disnae have to be so; if you prefer vegetarian bangers or dinnae care about the environment or the poor beasts on the farms then you could use other sausages, but these Cauldron ones are pretty good. I doubt that they have ever been to Lincolnshire but, in my opinion and with the greatest respect to the folk who stay there, they've not missed much.
Gently fry the sausages in olive oil for between 10 to 15 minutes.
Put the pasta in a big saucepan and boil it for 10/12 minutes.
This will take about as long as listening to a moderate Pink Floyd track. When all is done empty the pasta and water out and then return the pasta to the pan, adding in a tin of beans, a good dollop of tahini and the fried bangers. Add some herbs if you wish. Today I chose chives simply because they were to hand.
Return everything to the heat.
Warm everything up together, stirring well to avoid stickage in the pan. Then serve.
Look at the joy on that woman's face.
This is what your meal looks like close up after the addition of tomato ketchup from a glass (not plastic) bottle:
To demonstrate the tastiness of the dish, this is what your plate should look like 10 minutes later:
Now bask in the pleasure of being complimented on providing a tasty tea for two. If no mistakes have been made along the way and there's not a lot of mess on the cooker you might even hear the welcome words "I'll wash the pots" fae the lips of your satisfied fellow diner.
